VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM AT LUCKY HOME FAMILY

What, when, how, and where? All sorts of queries build up in each volunteer's mind.

In Tanzania, the Volunteering program offers a wide range of activities that one can perform as a volunteer. Here is a detailed list of tasks for each of them:

1. At the Orphanage

A volunteer will perform the following tasks daily:

  • Work alongside the existing staff in taking care of the children at the orphanage (Lucky Home Family).
  • Feeding, dressing, and keeping the children active within the homes.
  • Help the children in their homework and play games with them to engage them in playful activities.
  • Assist the Lucky Home Family in their daily organizational and running of its office for more productivity and efficiency.
  • Teach the kids, play with them, prepare their daily records, get involved in preparing their dishes, help in washing their clothes, and some administrative work as well.

2. Teaching Volunteering Program at a nearby school

This program is guided by the Academic Calendar of the respective year prepared by the Ministry of Education:

Easter Holiday: Closing 28th March 2025 and opening on 8th April 2025.

Mid-Second Term Break: Closing 29th August 2025 and opening 15th September 2025.

Terminal Holidays: From 6th June to 8th July 2025 and from 5th December 2025 to 13th January 2026.

3. Healthcare Medical Program at the nearby Health Centre

This is an all-time activity since healthcare services have no holidays. Under this program, volunteers:

  • Work in medical clinics, dispensaries, and hospitals in and around Kang'ata Ward in Handeni District.
  • Assist local doctors and staff with basic tasks such as checking weight and temperature, cleaning wounds, and administrative tasks.
  • Medical students can help in checking blood pressure, suturing wounds, and doing rounds with patients.
  • Work in maternal health, surgery, laboratories, counseling, and testing.

  4. Consultation Meeting

    We’ll arrange a meeting to discuss your goals, potential collaboration, and the impact your support will have.

  5. Formalize the Agreement

    Once we align on terms, we’ll formalize the partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or sponsorship agreement.

  6. Ongoing Engagement

    As a valued partner, you’ll receive regular progress reports and invitations to events to witness your support’s impact firsthand.
